Prayagraj is an important city of Uttar Pradesh which is also known as Prayag that comes from its position at the Sangam (confluence) of three holy rivers that are Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati which is a sacred place for Hindus. Although it is one of the most populous cities in the state, yet it is amongst the fastest growing and third most livable city in the state. In fact, it is known as the "Prime Minister Capital of India", since seven of fifteen Prime Ministers of India are from the city. Moreover, it consists of The Allahabad High Court or the High Court of Judicature that has jurisdiction over the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It was established in 1869, making it one of the first high courts to be established in India. Besides this, Prayagraj is also known worldwide for its education system, culture and tourism.
Prayagraj consists of a distinct education system that emphasizes on broad education. In fact, two of the biggest educational bodies have its headquarters in Prayagraj that are Department of Higher Education UP and Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh. Besides these two, Prayagraj also consists of one Central University; three Deemed Universities and an Open University.
Along with this, Prayagraj is also renowned for its culture and tourism. Indeed, it is a place that is known for having a literary and artistic heritage; also known as the "Literary Capital of Uttar Pradesh". In 1900, Saraswati the first Hindi monthly magazine of India was started by Chintamani Ghosh here. Moreover, the doyen of modern Hindi literature remained its editors from 1903 to 1920. Prayagraj also consists of Anand Bhavan that was built in 1930s and was the new home of the Nehru family. During the 19th and 20th centuries, Hindi literature was modernised by authoress like Mahadevi Varma and authors Sumitranandan Pant, Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala' and Harivansh Rai Bachchan who have their origin in the city. These authors contributed a lot to literature with their writings. Besides Hindi literature, Persian and Urdu literature had also studied in the city. Akbar Allahabadi is a noted modern Urdu poet, and Nooh Narwi, Tegh Allahabadi, Shabnam Naqvi and Rashid Allahabadi have their origin in Prayagraj .
Furthermore, Prayagraj is also renowned globally for its tourist places and festivals. Undoubtedly, Kumbh Mela is one such Hindu festival that attracts tourists from across the globe, but besides this, there are also various other tourists attractions spots in Prayagraj that include Alfred Park, the Victoria and Thornhill Mayne Memorials, Minto Park, Prayagraj Fort, the Ashoka Pillar and Khusro Bagh. Along with this, other places of interest are Prayagraj Museum, and the Jawahar Planetarium. Therefore, we could say that Prayagraj is a place having a perfect combination of literature, art and culture.
